Why Dental Hygiene is Very Important for You

As kindergarten kids we are taught how to maintain hygiene and take care of our bodies. We are taught how to clean behind our ears and under our nails and how to give our teeth a thorough brushing. Unfortunately as we grow older we tend to neglect oral hygiene and pay less attention to what we are eating and how it affects our teeth. Thus as adults we all need to be reminded as to why dental hygiene is very important.

Dental hygiene is very important for you simply because your smile is a gateway to who you are. First impressions are generally made depending on your smile and how confident you are about flashing it in public. Hence dental hygiene is very important for you so that your teeth retain their whiteness and there are no unsightly cracks, chips or stains that take away from your smile.

Dental hygiene is also very important for you because as a social being you spend time with other people and honestly, no one wants to get very close to someone who has bad breath. Maintaining good dental hygiene is important as it helps get rid of the bacteria that forms a film over your teeth and which can lead to a gum infection (gingivitis) if not cleaned regularly.

Finally dental hygiene is very important for you so that you avoid visits to the dentist and hefty dental bills as you grow older. Like it is said, a stitch in time saves nine. Thus maintaining dental hygiene now will help you live better tomorrow.
